Akhilesh Yadav is the son of Samajwadi Party’s supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. He holds the record of being the youngest ever CM in Indian politics after winning the 2012 UP assembly elections with a thumping margin.
He completed his school level education from the St. Mary’s School in Etawaa. After which, he enrolled at the Military School in Rajasthan. He obtained his engineering degree from the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering of Mysore. For further studies, he went to Australia and obtained his post graduation degree in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney.
Akhilesh Political career begins after he returned from Sydney. He became MP from Firozabad constituency of Uttar Pradesh in 2009. In by-elections, he became MP from Kannauj constituency in 2009. The same year he was made party president of Uttar Pradesh. In 2012 UP assembly elections, he introduced the new style of campaigning and was credit for party’s splendid performance in the elections. He became CM of Uttar Pradesh and straightaway promised that he will finish the Gunda Raj in UP.
He tried his best in the 2017 assembly elections and even differentiated from his father but nothing helped his cause as his party lost badly to Modi wave and he was dethroned from his post. In 2017 elections, he even made an alliance with the INC and made a point that to defeat communal forces; he is even ready to shake hands with other big regional party of UP, BSP. However, nothing worked in his favor. He is known as young and dynamic face in Indian politics.
