The Indian Politician, Amarinder is the active member of Indian National Congress political party. Most prominently he served as the Chief Minister of the state – Punjab for the time period between 2002 and 2007. Currently, he has earned the designation of President of the organization PPCC – Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Additionally, he has also served as the Deputy leader of the opposition party after the 16th Lok Sabha elections in the year 2016. He was in fact elected as the MP of Amritsar constituency against the leader of BJP named as Arun Jaitley. Immediately after completing the graduation from the National Defense Academy, he decided to join the Indian army in the year 1963. As a matter of fact, he has also served as the president of the party known as All India Jat Maha Sabha. During his regime, he demanded the reservation of the Jats under the OBC category. However, he has also worked for the society by being the part of Shiromani Akali Dal for the ruling period between 1992 and 1998.
Recently, Amarinder Singh proclaimed about his last election in the media and strongly willing to terminate his political career. On 11 March 2017 on his 75th birthday, he became 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. Apart from the political career, he has also written many books on War as well as Sikh History. The prominent books include A Ridge Too Far, the Last Sunset, The Monsoon War, Lest We Forget, and much more. The book named as 1965 India-Pakistan War consists of the plenty of memoirs in relation to Indo-Pak War.
