Bhisham Sahni , has been regarded as one of the most creatively rich writers of his times, He has contributed immensely to the Indian Cinema and Literature. His novel, Tamas (Darkness, Ignorance 1974), is based on the 1947 riots and is considered to be one of most legendary works being produced by him. His writing style is very influential and creatively, which is liked by all the writers and scholars of even today. The novel 'Tamas' got translated into every language possible and hence also got the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1975.
He has also written many other popular and prominent Hindi novels of his times. Bhisham Sahni has been a part of many famous plays like Hanush (1977), Kabira khara bazar mein (1981), Madhavi (1982) and Muavze (1993).
His writings are said to be deep and pure, which is why he is regarded as few of the noted writers of his times. His contribution to the Indian literature is unexplanatory and his presence can always be seen alive in the works done by him in the Indian Literature.
