Brenda Fricker was born on 17-02-1945 in the state of Dublin, Ireland. She is an Irish Theatre Actress, Film Actress & Television Actress who known for her work in Hollywood films.
Fricker acts in films, television and theatre. She is a notable actress who is seen in more than 30 films and television shows. During her early days, she wanted to follow her parent’s footstep and become a journalist. She even worked as an assistant to the art editor for the newspaper Irish Times. It was her destiny that pulled her to the acting profession which started at the age of 19. Her career in film industry began in the year 1964 when she was cast in movie Of Human Bondage. She has also appeared in the Irish first ever soap opera.
Fricker was recognised and acclaimed throughout the world when she was awarded Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie My Left Foot. She received this award in the year 1989. Post the award-winning role she was then cast into many high budget movies such as Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. In the year 2003, she worked in the movie named Film of the same name for which her work was well appreciated. Fricker was nominated for Irish Film Award for her role in Albert Nobbs. Fricker has currently been out of acting and has retired from the profession.
Her interest mostly includes her pet dogs, reading poetry and playing snooker.
