The Indian Politician, Charanjit Singh Atwal was an eminent Deputy Speaker belonged to the 14th Lok Sabha for the period between 2004 and 2009. During his 14th Lok Sabha elections, he represented the constituency of Punjab – Phillaur. Later, he also served as the active member of the political party – Shiromani Akali Dal. From 2012, he worked as the speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Punjab. However, he has previously worked as the speaker from the year 1997 and 2002. He completed his graduation in LLB from the Punjab University in Chandigarh. Initially, he was included as the active member of Lok Sabha from the year 1985 and 1989. After serving as the speaker of Punjab Assembly for the period between 1997 and 2002, he is regarded as the most outstanding member who has served the Indian Parliament for 20 years.
As a whole, he tends to possess 40 years of political service experience. Initially, he started his political career in the year 1957. He is one of the top service providers for the party - Shiromani Akali Dal. Subsequently, for the period of 4 years, he was elected as the Chairman of the department Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes. Moreover, he also served as the speaker for the second time for the Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly. Additionally, he was also jailed from 1975 to 1977 for the emergency.
