Daya’s birth name is Grace Martine Tandon. Prior to releasing her singles, she used to write songs. She started her association with music while she was just 3 years old by learning piano. Later she learned jazz piano, ukulele, guitar, flute, and saxophone.
Daya moved to Los Angeles and started working with founders of INSIDE ACCESS. While writing songs, she simultaneously also wrote and recorded her single Hide Away. The song finally released in 2015 and was well appreciated. After her single received a good response, she released her self-titled EP, Daya. She garnered widest recognitions after associating with The Chainsmoker on his song "Don't Let Me Down". The song was an instant hit and it peaked the Top 100 charts at Number 3. Her second single "Sit Still, Look Pretty", too was an instant hit and thus established her as a singer to reckon with. Her both the singles have already gone Platinium.
She got an opportunity to perform at The White House Easter Egg Roll in 2016. She also got the opportunity to meet the then United States President Barrack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama.
Her song "Don't Let Me Down" with The Chainsmoker’s won a Grammy award for Best Dance Recording in 2017.
