Dharmendra Pradhan made his foray into politics by becoming a member of the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad). He became very popular and was finally elected as the President of Talcher College Students' Union in 1985. He was dynamic and after becoming the President, he became very active and was also seen in the students' movements in Odisha. Within a brief period, he took giant leaps by getting elected as the national secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and later became national secretary of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha and held that position from the year 2004 to 2006.
Pradhan made his entry into national politics in 2004. His father was a cabinet minister in India’s then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. His father left his seat for his son Dharmendra Pradhan and he didn’t let his father down as he fought bravely and ended up winning the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 from the Deogarh constituency of the state of Orrisa.
In his political career, he held several prestigious positions. He was sent to Rajya Sabha in 2012 from the state of Bihar. For his hard work, he was felicitated by his party BJP for being the best legislator. He was made the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas in the Narendra Modi’s cabinet. He was given the responsibility of 2017 UP state elections and was one of the architects of party’s tremendous victory in the 2017 UP elections.
In addition to politics, he is also a renowned social worker. Pradhan is anxious about the problems which are faced by the youths in India such as technical education, unemployment, etc. He actively works for the upliftment of backward classes in India and also for the miserable conditions of farmers in India. Pradhan loves traveling and reading books.
