Diana Penty was born and raised in Mumbai. She completed her school level education at St. Agnes High School, Mumbai. She for further studies attended St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and obtained her graduate degree in Mass Communication from there.
She wanted to pursue a career in modeling and therefore she sent some of her photographs to the Elite Models India. They immediately inked her and gave her first modeling assignment to walk the ramp for prestigious Italian designers like Ferre and Trussardi at the India-Italy festival in the year 2006. She garnered a lot of appreciation from there and post which, she modeled from various prestigious Indian designers like Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bahl, and Wendell Rodricks among others. She also started featuring on various popular fashion magazines as well. Her modeling career peaked after she was roped in to endorse famous brands like Parachute, Westside, and Garnier among others. She became an international model and modeled in prestigious fashion weeks in New York and Paris. She was approached by Imtiaz Ali to play the lead role in Rockstar opposite Ranbir Kapoor, however, she declined the offer as she had various modeling assignments to complete.
Diana Penty finally made her acting debut through Homi Adajania’s romantic-comedy film Cocktail in 2012. It was Imtiaz Ali who suggested her name to the makers of Cocktail. She shared screen space with veteran actors like Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in this film. The film was a box-office success and her performance too was hailed. She won nominations for Best Female Debut at numerous Award functions and won some as well. She was next seen four years later in Mudasar Aziz’s much-acclaimed film Happy Bhag Jayegi in 2016. The film was a moderate success but her performance was highly praised. Her character Harpreet "Happy" Kaur received wides of acclaims along with Best Actor –Female nominations. Her next venture Lucknow Central though boomed at the box-office. She will be next seen in two much-awaited films like Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran and the sequel of Happy Bhag Jayegi.
