Eli Ahmed is a veteran and very famous poet and essayist of Indian Origin. She had excelled as an essayist, script author, chief, lyricist, outfit architect, performer and social worker. She also is distorting the duties of that of “Supervisor”, “Distributor” and the proud owner of “Orani”, the magazine which raises the women’s issues since the decade of the 1970s. She had been raising the issues since 1967 and is working for the human society so long. She was felicitated by the government with the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in the year 2017 for her commitment to writing and instruction. Because of her noble work she had been known by many names such as Pokhila (butterfly) called by Nalinibala Devi, Beli which means (sun), and Geet (melody) called by Brajen Barua.
She is famous as fire or Jui amongst her friends. She made her name as a lyricist with Dwipen Barua's re-known song GaAji GaiJaa Ei Geeto ke Ga in his renowned film Dr. Bezbaruah.
She had written and sung many verses for mainstream movies like Baruar Sansar, Sadari and numerous more. She is an active member of AssamSahitya Sabha and champ of the National abstract prize on grown-up instruction for her beautifully written book titled Bonphool which released in 1976.
She was awarded Dr. NirmalPrabha Bordoloi Award in the year 2011 and Amalprava DasAward in the year 2013 for her commitments in the field of writing.
