Kamal Sidhu first shot to fame after she emerged winner of the beauty pageant Miss India–Canada in 1991. She was born in a conservative Sikh Family, who while the time she born were residing in the Philippines. She was just 6 years old when she along with her family re-located to Canada. She was raised in Canada and also completed her education there. She holds a degree in pre-medical. In addition to English and Punjabi, she is well versed in French and Tagalog.
She was a born athlete and was even qualified to represent Canada in heptathlon event at the Summer Olympics. An unfortunate injury finished her sporting career and she branched out to different avenues. She by the advice of her cousin entered the Miss India-Canada competition and also emerged as a winner.
She then came to India and started her career as a VJ on music channels like Channel V, MTV Asia, and AXN. She was among the first few VJs from India and her Canadian accent made her very popular among the youths in India. She also hosted an adult show on Zoom TV. She returned to the small screen after a decade and presented the Rio Summer Olympics 2016 on Star Sports.
In addition to hosting and presenting, she has also acted in some films like Aar Ya Paar, The Fakir of Venice and Little Zizou.
