Karthik Raja is a South Indian composer. He is from Chennai, India. In a Tamil film Alexander (1996), as a film composer, he had made his debut and since then he has continued his journey by scoring music for various commercial and critical feature films. He born in a family, where music was all around him. Since his childhood, From Trinity School of Music, he had exposed himself to the different types of music. In the Western classical music, he has got the formal training and it was mainly on piano. From respected T. V. Gopalakrishnan& respected V. Dakshinamoorthy, a Malayalam composer, he had got the training in Carnatic music.
In the childhood, Karthik Raja used to frequently visit recording studios with his father. In a small age, he played the keyboard, which was for the song named Kannukkum. The song was from the movie NinaikkaTherinda Manama in the year 1987. He had continued his journey through playing the keyboard. He had played it for the Nayagan movie’s soundtrack. Many recordings had been arranged by him for his musician Maestro father. He had composed the first song in 1992. The song was "PandianinRajiyathil" from the film Pandiyan. After that in 1993, he had composed the song "Ninaikindra", which was from the film Athma. For a TV series named Bible, some of the background scores were composed by him.
In a full swing, he had debuted in the year 1996. The movie was Alexander, which was a Tamil movie. He had continued with his next work at Manikyam. After that, there came many Chartbusters, which included various films like NaamIruvarNammakuIruvar, Ullaasam, DummDummDumm, KadhalaKadhala, and others. With the film Grahan, he had debuted in the Hindi films and for his work; he has won the prestigious R.D. Burman Award.
