Lisa Cholodenko was born on 05-06-1964 in Los Angeles in the state of California, United States. She is an American Screenwriter, Film Director & Television Director who known for her work in Hollywood industry.

Career

Lisa Cholodenko, 52, is an American director and screenwriter. She has written screenplays for various films and TV serials. She has been active for more than a decade and has worked with numerous renowned artists and personalities. Cholodenko comes from a Jewish Family. She was born in California and studied at San Francisco State University. In 1992, she got admission at Columbia University School of Arts to get Masters degree in Fine Arts. She completed her direction and screenwriting course in 1997. Presently she is in a relationship with Wendy Melvoin and has a child.
 
Her career started in New York where she worked as an assistant editor with Beeban Kidron and John Singleton. After that, she wrote and directed a number of short films like Souvenir in 1994, Dinner Party in 1997, etc. With Milos Forman's help and motivation, she made her debut with feature film High Art. She even won Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award tor best screenplay. The story was liked so much that it premiered at Cannes Film Festival at Director's Fortnight. Laurel Canyon, another movie of her's received the same response. For her excellent scriptwriting, she won Women in Film Dorothy Arzner Directors Award.
 
A couple of years later she decided to permanently move to LA and conceive a child through an anonymous sperm donor. There she met Stuart Blumberg whom she co-authored the screenplay of The Kids Are All Right. It took 5 years for them complete the script. Her movie was nominated for Oscars, BAFTA and Golden Globe awards for Best Original Screenplay.
