Mylswamy Annadurai did his schooling from his village named Kodhavady. After which, he finished his engineering from the Government College in Coimbatore. He completed his post graduation from PSG College of Coimbatore. He also holds Ph.D. degree from the Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. After completion of his studies, he joined the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) in the year 1982. Soon after he joined ISRo, he made an impact by contributing to the INSAT system maintenance.
His first successful mission in ISRA was Chandrayaan -1. The mission was launched in the year 2008. The mission started in 2004 and concluded in 2008. He served as the project manager of this mission. He worked tirelessly with his team of able engineers and scientist to carry instrumentation from NASA, Bulgaria, ESA and ISRO. He played a vital role in making this mission a successful one with the aid from international co-operation. Chandrayaan-1 was well praised and along with that also won the Space Pioneer Award among various others.
For his achievements, he has conferred with Doctor of Science from various prestigious institutes like Anna University, MGR University and the University of Madras. For his significant contribution to Indian science, he was felicitated with the Eminent Scientist Award from the decorated MK University Endowment. For being the team leader of Chandrayyan-1, he was awarded Team Excellence Award. His list of Awards is huge but is contribution is even bigger. In addition to Chandrayaan-1, he has also served as Program Director of Chandrayaan-2 and Mangalyaan mission. In his free time, he motivates young students from India to study science.
