Raj Khosla who was born in Punjab had dreamt of becoming a popular classical singer. He was even trained extremely well to be one. When he came to Bombay to start his career, he had to work for All India Radio before his talent in direction became known.
Dev Anand is the person who felt Raj Khosla has many other talents apart from singing and made him work as an assistant with Guru Dutt. That is where Raj Khosla’s real talent discovered and soon everyone could see a budding director coming up through his movies like CID, Who KaunThi, Do Badan, Do Raaste and Main TulsiTereAangab Ki being his works in initial years as a director in Bollywood.
Raj was well known for his unique picturization, songs and the way he puts up everything in place while directing a movie. He has shot movies with various themes and stories. Most of his movies were a big hit in Bollywood box office. He always helped people grow along with him. That made his whole family get recognised even today all over the country.
Though he worked for many years, he was always open for new experiments and he explored himself in producing movies with trends which made him all-time popular.
Raj Khosla has won Filmfare Award in 1979 as Best Director for the movie Main TulsiTereAangan Ki. The same movie got the best movie award in the same year. He was also nominated for the best director for Filmfare in 1970 fir Do Raaste movie. Since he served for Indian Film Industry for many years, Govt. of India has honoured him by releasing a postal stamp having his face on that in 2013.
