Randhir Singh was a lanky Right Arm Medium Paced Bowler who had a good domestic outing but couldn’t do much in limited opportunities that he had in International circuit.
He made his ODI debut in 1981 versus the touring England side at Motera, Ahmedabad. He went wicket less in that match. His selection left everyone baffled when he was included in the team that toured England in 1982. However he was not included in Playing 11 and the 3 first class games that he played there he couldn’t score a single run.
A year later when West Indies toured India he was called in as 1st choice bowlers Kapil Dev and Madan Lal were absent. He did manage to pick up his maiden Wicket in that match but that was not enough for him to be even considered again to play for India.
Eventually he ended his career with just two international games under his belt. However, he kept playing domestic cricket for Jharkhand (then Bihar) and Orissa. In his 65 first class matches he managed to claim 146 scalps. His List A career was 23 games long and he took 28 wickets at an average of 27.32.
