Robert Graham who was among the finest sculptors will always be remembered for some of his historic civic monuments. Among all the sculptors that he made some of the most noted ones include the Joe Louis Memorial in Detroit in 1986, the Olympic Gateway in Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 1984, the Duke Ellington Monument built in New York City in 1997, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial built in Washington, D.C. in 1997, and the Charlie“Bird”Parker Memorial ok Kansas City which he made in 1999.
He was also praised for his many of his small-scale works. Among all the works that he did, his nude female sculptures need a special mentioning. He completed his studies from the San Jose State College and the San Francisco Art Institute in the year 1964. He held his first solo exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art in the year 1972. In an illustrious career as a sculptor, he showcased his sculptures in various Art galleries of cities like New York, Los Angeles, Essen, Cologne and London among others. For his contribution to arts, he was felicitated with California Governor’s Award for the Arts in the year 1993. He was finally inducted into California Museum’s Hall of Fame after his death in the year 2008.
