Sandeep is a medium pacer who relies heavily on swinging the new ball. With his accurate line and length and a knack of bowling economical spells, he has been a huge asset for his IPL side Kings XI Punjab. Sandeep though started his career as a batsman but it was his coach who at the right time advised him to work on his bowling. He was drafted in the Indian U-19 squad that played in the World Cup 2010. A couple of years later, he played his second U-19 World Cup in Australia and became the joint highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 12 wickets to his name. He picked four wickets in the final against Australia and played a pivotal role in Indian winning the world cup.
Immediately after he returned, he was roped in by the IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab and since then has spearheaded their bowling. He is the only bright light in an otherwise dismal performance of the franchise in last three editions.
As a result, Sandeep Sharma was included in India's T20 side for the tour of Zimbabwe. He though leaked runs and was since then has been ignored by the selectors. With age on his side and the way he is bowling, a national call-up seems likely.
