Shrikant Jichkar was born in a well to do family near Katol, Nagpur District of Maharashtra. He was the proud owner of arguably one of the biggest libraries that one can personally have. In his library, there were around 52000 books. Besides an avid reader, he was also a good painter. He made his foray into politics while he was still studying. He became the leader of his college. Jichkar had obtained as many as 20 degrees and enjoyed traveling the world and speaking on subjects such as economics, fitness, religion and health.
In Indian politics, he created history by becoming the youngest ever MLA then He was just 25 when he got elected. With his knowledge, he was handed ministry and was at the same time holding as many as 14 portfolios. He served as an MLA of Maharashtra Assembly from the year 1982-85 after which he served MaharashtraLegislativeCouncil from the year 1986-92 and after which, he was designated as the minister of the state of Maharashtra. In 1992, he was sent to Rajya Sabha and he served his whole term of six years from 1992 to 1998.
He holds the Limca Book of Records for the most qualified person in the country.
