Despite not taking any formal education till the age of 10, Siddaramaiah did his B.Sc and Bachelor of Law from Mysore University and also taught law for some time.
His Political career began after an emergency in 1978. Come 1983 and he was given Ticket by Bhartiya Lok Dal from Chamundeshwari. His victory seemed Surprising to many but he was elected and enter Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
After tasting defeat in 1989 Assembly elections he came back stronger and won it back in 1994 and was declared Minister of Finance in H.D. Deve Gowda’s term. However, his partnership with Deve Gowda fall out and he joined Indian National Congress in 2005.
Siddaramaiah joined the Political party-Congress in Bangalore in the presence of Sonia Gandhi's at a Public meeting. He was elected from his constituency Varuna in 2008 State elections but his party lost. Come 2013 and he was Chief Minister’s face of Congress and led Congress to a clear cut majority in 2013 State Elections and became Chief Minister of Karnataka.
He is married to Parvathi and has two sons.
