Prior to joining the television industry, Sonal Sehgal was working as a copywriter for ad agencies in Delhi. After which, she joined theatre and became famous after performing in Mahesh Dattani’s play titled 'Mad about Money'. She then made her acting debut with the television series Saara Akaash which was based on the lives of Airforce officers in 2005. After which, she appeared in appeared in many other series like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and Hotel Kingston.
She worked as an assistant director of noted director and filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar. She made her silver screen debut with the Hindi film U, Bomsi & Me in 2005. She garnered national fame for her performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s much-acclaimed film “Aashayein” in the year 2010. She played the lead actress role in this film opposite John Abraham. Her other noted appearances include Future to Bright Hai Ji, Radio, Damadamm, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai and "Mantostaan".
Besides acting in television series and films, she has also appeared in popular music videos like Pankaj Udhas’s ‘Ghungat’ and Euphoria’s ‘Maayri’. After acting, writing is her biggest passion and in her free time, she loves writing stories and poems.
