Sumeet Sachdev was born and brought up in Delhi. He is a professional Architect but chose acting as his mainstream career. He made his acting debut with a play titled The Fifty Day War in 2000. The show was a tribute to Kargil Heros during the 1999 Indo-Pak War. After which, he worked in the iconic television series titled Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2002. He portrayed the role of Gomzy or Gautam Virani and garnered huge fame. His performance was highly applauded and also won back to back Awards under the category Favourite Beta. Through this serial, he earned himself a place among the prominent television personalities of Indian television.
He then played some negative characters in the series like Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat, and Kahiin To Hoga. He played his first lead role in the series titled Khwaish. He is currently working on the television series Ye Hai Mohabbatein.
