Most of his family members were serving the defence forces and therefore he lived a nomadic life in his childhood. He spent his childhood from various places in North to South. While he was a teenager, he started studying acting at the Barry John Acting School in New Delhi. Tahir was excellent at studies and has obtained his Master’s degree in Media from the University of Melbourne in Australia. Prior to joining the entertainment industry, he worked as a news journalist.
To sharpen his acting skills, he enrolled at the Institute of Advanced Acting and Behavioural Studies. While he training there, he was highly active and participated at various theatre workshops. Prior to entering Hindi film industry, he learned MMA skills and Bollywood contemporary style of dancing. He was also seen in various commercials and some acclaimed Indian and International short movies. He made his Bollywood debut by playing petty roles in films such as One By Two and Kismet Love Paisa Dilli. He got recognition after he played the lead villain role in the Rani Mukherjee starrer film Mardaani in 2014. He was highly acclaimed for his performance and also won himself Best Actor In a Negative Role Award at the Filmfare Awards.
After establishing himself as a lead villain, he landed another lead villain role in John Abraham starrer film Force 2 in 2016. Though the movie didn’t do well at the box-office but his performance was praised. He will be next seen in the movie titled Manto.
