He is the son of Bollywood Director David Dhawan, Nephew of Bollywood actor Anil Dhawan, Brother of Bollywood director Rohit Dhawan, Cousin of Bollywood actor Siddharth Dhawan, Second cousin to director Punit Malhotra and Nephew of Bollywood actress Rashmi Dhawan.
After assisting Karan Johar in My Name is Khan, Dhawan made his acting debut in 2012 with the film Student of The Year, alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The movie was a huge hit and his role of a Rohan Nanda as a teen-aged son of Superrich was well received and was praised by critics. His next release was Main Tera Hero in 2014, was also a commercial success. The very same year he appeared in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. This film was a huge success and Dhawan’s performance was well appreciated by both critics and audiences. In 2015, he starred in crime thriller Badlapur. His performance in the film was heavily praised by7 almost all the film pundits and some of them even went on to say that he is a star in making. His next film was ABCD 2, opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Though the film received mixed bag of reviews but was declared a commercial success at the box-office. He then went on to star in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale. The film was a moderate success at the box-office. His latest release was his brother’s action film Dishoom alongside John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez. As of now, he is filming for Badrinath Nath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa2.
