Amitabh Bhattacharjee made his acting debut with the film, The Legend of Bhagat Singh which was released in the year 2002. He was in the movie for a very brief role, portraying Indian Independence Activist Jatin Das, who dies in Jail during 63 days fast. Following year, he made debut in Bengali cinema with the film Rasta which was directed by Bratya Basu with Mithun Chakraborty. The movie was a huge hit and Amitabh was well received by the audiences.

 

Banking on the success of his first Bengali film, many noted Directors of Bengali films signed him immediately. He starred in three Bengali movies, the following year of his Bengali film debut in 2003. He again made a small role in Hindi film Kalyug, where he played movie’s lead actor Kunal Khemu’s father’s role. He is a huge star in Bengali cinema but hasn't been able to convert that stardom in the Hindi cinema.

 

Till date, he has acted in almost 25 movies including Hindi and Bengali and is still in demand of many noted Directors and Producers.
