Anandiben Patel was born on 21-11-1941 in Kharod, Mehsana in the state of Gujarat, India. She is an Indian Politician & former Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Career

Anandiben Patel is a popular Indian politician and was one of the most influential Chief Minister of Gujarat state. She completed her high school studies at N.M. High School. She was good at sports and was a district level champion during her school days. She attended M. G. Panchal Science College for her graduation in Science. She was excellent in her studies. She started working at Mahila Vikas Gruh where she delivered vocational courses for more than 50 fifty widows.

After marriage, she perceived her master degree in science in Ahmedabad. She was interested in teaching. She taught more than 10 members of her family at her home. She completed a Bachelor of Education program and Master of Education program for perceiving her interest. She even won the gold medal during Master of Education program. She joined Mohiniba Kanya Vidyalaya as the teacher. She taught mathematics and science there. Later she was appointed as school's principal.

She was noticed by one of the BJP top cadres when she saved the 2 drowning girls at Sardar Sarovar reservoir.BJP cadre requested her to join politics and she joined as the Gujarat Pradesh Mahila Morcha’ President for BJP in 1987. She helped citizens of Viramgam district during the bird flu spread. She was appointed as a member of Rajya Sabha in 1994. She won her 1st assembly election and elected as the cabinet minister handling education ministry when Keshubhai Patel was serving as a Chief Minister.

She began’Lokdarbar’ addressing education and school-related issues.’ Shala Praveshotsav’ was launched under her leadership. She worked for reducing corruption in teachers’ transfers and established a special school for handicapped children. She continued serving as cabinet education minister after winning the assembly elections in both 2002 and 2007.She even handled Roads & Building and Revenue during the 3rd term. She won 2012 elections and continued with Roads & Building and Revenue along with Urban Development and Urban Housing. She was appointed as a Chief Minister for the Gujarat state after the election of Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister of India in 2014.She resigned from the post in 2016 when she was about to turn 75.

She was born to Jethabhai Patel and Menaben Patel.Her father was a teacher. She married Mafatlal Patel in 1962. Her husband was a Psychology professor working at Saraspur Art and Commerce College. The couple has two children Anar Patel and Sanjay Patel.They are married to Hina Patel and Sanskruti Patel respectively. Dharm Patel(Son of Sanjay) and Sanskruti Patel(Daughter of Anar) are her grandchildren.
