Anjaan was born on 28-10-1930 in Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was the famous Indian Lyricist & Songwriter who remembered for his work in Hindi cinema.

Anjaan left his hometown Benaras and relocated to Mumbai to fulfill his dream of becoming a lyricist. He got his first break after he was roped in to write the lyrics of the film Prisoner of Golconda in 1953. After that, he started working regularly but in small films. 
 
He first came to limelight after his work in the film Godaan. He became a household after his collaboration with noted composer Kalyanji-Anandji. He mostly wrote lyrics of Amitabh Bachchan’s film and some of his famous songs include "Rote Hue Aate Hain Sab", "Pyar Zindagi Hai", and "Khaike Paan Banaras Wala" among various others. He literally ruled the decade of the 1970s with numerous hits to his name.
 
In 1980, he collaborated with Bappi Lahri and R. D. Burman and gave various chartbusters. In the decade of the 1990s, his health started deteriorating but his will wasn’t and wrote lyrics for some of the most famous Bollywood films such as Ghayal Dalaal, and Zindagi Ek Juaa among others. In a career spanning almost 5 decades, he wrote over 1500 songs for 300 films.
