Armando Colaco was born on 22-06-1953 in Panaji, North Goa in the state of Goa, India. He is an Indian Football Coach & Football Manager.


Armando Colaco Complete Bio & Career

Armando Colaco is a football coach from India, who is considered as one of the best managers in India owing to his success with Churchill Brother S.C and Dempo.
 
He was Dempo’s longest-serving and most successful manager. During his period spanning over 20 years, the club enjoyed great success in terms of wins and trophies. The major breakthrough in his early football career came in the form of his selection to play for the I-league club Dempo in 1971. He was trained under Joseph Ratnam, which Armando defines as an important phase that shaped his career and game.
 
This State Kerkar Award recipient retired in 1985 and then started a new journey in his career as a football coach. Under his coaching, Salcete Football Club won the Stanford Cup, followed by Sesa Goa winning the Vitthal Trophy in 1988-1989. In the early 90’s, he also coached the Goa Under-21 Santosh Team and also Goa Under-23 team at the BC Roy Trophy.
 
At Churchill Brothers SC, he successfully guided the team to win three Goa Football League titles, NFL runner-up trophy and an excursion into the AFC Cup.
 
In 2000, he was offered the coaching title in Dempo SC and since then, the club has been producing magnificent results. The club won major national league titles including Federation Cup, three I-League titles, Durand Cup, and many others. During his time, Dempo became the first Indian football club to reach the semi-finals of the AFC Cup. The club recorded 54.84% winning rates under his coaching, which is quite incredible.  In 2011, he was appointed as the coach of Indian football team. Later, East Bengal appointed Armando as their new head coach in 2013.
 
He is widely acclaimed for his match reading abilities and tactical dexterity. He is considered to be one of the first Indian coaches to have introduced the possession style football.
