Dame Jean Macnamara realised at the same time as developing up during World War I that she desired “to be of a few use in the global”. His opportunity came, whilst a polio epidemic struck Melbourne the same 12 months she graduated from scientific college. For the subsequent six years, Macnamara labored as a representative and clinical officer to the Poliomyelitis Committee of Victoria, in which her cognizance grew to become to “treating and learning the doubtlessly deadly virus, a specific risk for youngsters,” in step with the Doodle.
