Daniele De Rossi was born and raised in Rome. He made professional debut by playing for Italian football club Roma in the year 2001. He hold the record for the second most appearance for the club with 616 appearances including youth and professional level. During his stint with Roma they won Coppa Italia twice and also the much hyded 2007 Supercoppa Italiana. He also won the Serie A Young Footballer of the Year in 2006 and also won the Serie A Italian Footballer of the Year in the year 2009. After spending 17 years with them, he was made the Captain of the Roma during 2017-28 season after retirement of Italian footballer Francesco Totti. He helped Roma reach the semifinals of Champions League for the first time. After spending 18 years with the club, he left the club in 2019 and joined the Argentine club Borca Juniors and along with playing, he also mentored the young players in the club. 

 
At the international level, he represeted Italy at the under 19 to under 21 levels and then the senior team. He was also a part of the squad that won Bronze medal at the 2004 summer Olympics. He represented Italy in 117 matches and scored 2 goals for them. He is the highest goal-scorer for Italy post World War 2. He was also a part of 2006 FIFA World Cup winning squad. The French sports magazine named L'Équipe named him as the eighth-best midfielder in the world in the year 2009.
