Gita Gopinath Complete Bio & Career

Gita Gopinath received a bachelor's degree from Lady Shri Ram University in Delhi University in 1992 and then received a master's degree from the University of Washington in the year 1996. In 2001 she received her PhD from Princeton University. While acquiring a PhD at Princeton, she received Princeton's Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Research Award.
 
Gita Gopinath was appointed the international monetary fund's chief economist in October 2018. She is a professor of economics at Harvard University, John Zwaanstra. She is co-director of the National Economic Research Bureau's International Financial Macroeconomics Program. Although a research fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of the New York State Federal Reserve Bank. She is a collaborator of the American Economic Review, an international economics manual collaborator and a publisher in the Economic Studies Review.
 
In October 2018, She was appointed for the position of  Economic Counselor and IMF Research Director by the Managing Director Christine Lagarde of the International Monetary Fund( IMF). In 2018, she became a fellow at the Academy of Arts and Sciences of America. In 2017, she received the University of Washington's distinguished alumnus award.
