Gufi Paintal was born on 4 October 1944 in Punjab. He is a director and actor by profession. He rose to fame with his role of Shakuni in serial Mahabharat. He started his career in the 1980s. Besides films, he also did television serials and plays. He hails from a Sikh Family. Before coming into the industry he was an engineer. He started taking up modeling projects first. Then he worked as an assistant director in movies.

 

He acted in Mahabharat and his role as Shakuni was highly praised. The show was by B.R Chopra and Ravi Chopra. He was so inspired by his character that he also discussed it at the news channel named, Sahara Samay. He entered the industry as the director by directing the movie named, Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The movie is based on the life of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who was a devotee of Krishna. Pawan Kumar was his producer and the music was given by Ravindra Jain. His co-star named, Pankaj Dheer established an academy named, Abbhinnay Acting Academy and he made Gufi Paintal as its head in 2010.

 

His first movie was titled as Dillagi in 1978. The same year he did another movie, Des Pardes. He played the role of Mamaji in the movie, Maidan e Jung in 1995. Other films done by him include The revenge: Geeta Mera Naam, Mahabharat Aur Barbareek, and Samrat & Co. In television, he acted in serials like Kanoon, Sauda, Akbar Birbal, Shani, Karn Sangini, and RadhaKrishn.
