    J. Om Prakash was the popular Indian Film Director and Film Producer who was born on January 24, 1927, in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan with the original name Jay Om Prakash. He was well-known for his work in Bollywood film industry and gave several hits to the industry.

    J. Om Prakash full name was Jay Om Prakash. He started his cinematic career as a producer with the Hindi film titled Aas Ka Panchhi in the year 1961. After which, he produced some of the most notable movies of Bollywood like Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Aankhon Aankhon Mein, Aasha and Afsana Dilwalon Ka among various others.
     
    In addition to producing, he had also directed many films. He made his directorial debut with the film Aap Ki Kasam in 1974. The film had stars like Mumtaz and Rajesh Khanna but the movie did average business at the box-office though was critically well acclaimed. All his films titles started with the English alphabet ‘A’ just Bhagwaan Dada was an exception. This film marked the debut of his grandson Hrithik Roshan in child artist’s role. Among all the films that he produced and directed, Bhagwaan Dada was one of his most successful films which had his son in law Rakesh Roshan in the lead role. He was highly active in the industry until the 1990s and Afsana Dilwalo Ka which released in 2001 was his last film as a filmmaker.
     
    In his illustrious cinematic career, he had also served as Film Federation of India’s president from 1995-1996. A Punjabi film "Aasra Pyaar Da (1983)" was also directed by him.
