Joe Biden began his career with the U.S. Army as an attorney before finally entered politics. He soon became a popular figure and thereby became the 5th youngest senator in the U.S. and was also Delaware's longest-serving senator. He made his bid for the U.S. presidential election but lost to Democratic nominee Barack Obama. He was however appointed as the running mate of Barack Obama and served as the vice president of the United States for 2 full terms. 

 

After missing out in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, he came with full force for the 2020 U.S. presidential elections and will be the Democrats candidate against Republican Donald Trump. He has been characterized as a moderate Democrat. In 2008, Biden received Working Mother magazine's Best of Congress Award for "improving the American quality of life through family-friendly work policies". He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction during a farewell press conference at the White House honouring Biden and his wife. In 2018, the University of Delaware renamed their School of Public Policy and Administration after Biden, naming it the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration, which also houses the Biden Institute.
