He is the son of Late Jeethendra Kumar, who was a head constable in the Punjab Police and his mother Janak Rani is a housewife. He has an elder brother, Ashok Kumar, who is also a constable and a younger sister, Pooja. He completed his graduation from the Hindu college in Amritsar, Punjab.
Kapil Sharma is one of the best standup comedians, India has ever produced. He made his debut on the small screen with the comedy show Ustaadon Ke Ustaad. Further, in his career, he won six seasons of Comedy Circus as well as the comedy series The great Indian Laughter Challenge season 3. Some of the most popular characters played by him include Lala Roshan Lal, a Punjab Police Inspector and Shamsher Singh.
Along with performing, he is also a renowned host and has hosted the comedy show Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur. He along with Juhi Parmar co-hosted the comedy show Chhote Miyaan and Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season-4. He rose to prominence by hosting Comedy Nights With Kapil. Through this show, he became a household name and this show was the most loved and watched show on Indian Television. After disputing with the producers of the show, he quit the show in late 2015 and started hosting another show titled The Kapil Sharma Show. He was the host of 1st Punjabi International Film Awards, Toronto and has hosted several Hindi film Awards as well. He has unlimited talent, a wonderful sense of humor and perfect timing.
Sharma made his Bollywood debut in 2015 as the lead actor in Abbas Mustan’s film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, opposite four actresses, Manjari Phadnis, Elli Avram, Sai Lokur and Simran Kaur Mundi. The film received mixed reviews from critics but did record-breaking opening day business for a debutant.
He has recently signed two films and is presently working on them along with hosting The Kapil Sharma Show.
