KC Cariappa is a young leg-spinner, who turned heads when he attracted a bid of Rs 2.4 Crores from the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2015 IPL auction. Prior to the auction, he was a relatively unknown figure as he had not played a single First-Class or List A match.
At 5 feet 11 inches, he bowls with an orthodox round-arm action. The leg break is his stock ball, and he has variations like the googly and the carrom ball. His other strength is his ability to bowl off-spin without changing his grip. He has been a part of the Karnataka under-19 squad and also a part of Karnataka state team. He was released by KKR in 2016 and was bought by Kings XI Punjab for INR 80 lakhs. He went unsold in IPL player auction 2018 and was called in as a replacement of Kamlesh Nagarkoti in 2019 by KKR.
