Born on 18 June 1939, Louis Clark Lou Brock was a baseball outfielder from America. He started playing baseball from his college days. His average in 1st year was only .189 but he raised it to .500 average the next year. He got selected in the Pan American games in 1959. He tried his level best to reach to the cardinals.
But he was signed by the Chicago clubs in 1960 as a free agent. He made his debut on 10 September 1961 when he was 22. He aspired to be known as a power hitter but couldn’t. He had great speed and base. Then he headed to St. Louis cardinals. With the help of Brock, the Cardinals reached the national league pennant. The 1964 world series was also won by the cardinals under the guidance of Brock. Recognizing his efforts, he was awarded the most valuable player award in 1964.
He had 190 hits to his credit in 1969 and consequently was named as the NL player of the month. On 29 August 1977, he became the major league stolen base leader in a match against San Diego Padres. He was the 14th player in the history who reached 3000 hits against the Chicago Bulls. At the end of the season, he retired and was named national league comeback player of the year.
