Mrityunjay Kumar Singh was born on 30th August 1961 in Sonbarsa town of Saharsa District in Bihar, India. He is an IPS officer of 1987 batch and belongs to West Bengal Cadre. He is also a noted Columnist, Lyricist, Folk Musician and a Poet. He is also known as MK Singh.

Mrityunjay Kumar Singh Complete Bio & Career

As an SP, he was posted in Murshidabad, he worked for security, safety, and protection of the Hazar Dauri Museum and Palace of Murshidabad in West Bengal in 1997-1998. MK worked with many NGOs of India and Bangladesh trading with illegitimate human trafficking and moving across international borders for four years from 2003-2007.
 
As a lyricist, he wrote and sang Bhojpuri folk songs for an album titled Suranjali which was created by Ministry of Culture and was released by President of India in 2006. He also wrote lyrics for the songs of movies such as Dharm, Chokher Bali, Chaturanga and Via Darjeeling to name a few. He wrote scripts for a couple of Dance Dramas like ‘Sri Kandi’ and ‘Putri Segara’.
 
As a Poet, he has penned down some beautiful poems like Kirchen and Meghdoot: The Emissary of Sunderance.
