Musarrat Nazir was born on 13-10-1937 in Lahore in the state of Punjab, Pakistan. She is a Pakistani Singer, Film Actress, Film Director & Musician.
Musarrat was a brilliant student, and she passed the 10th exam with distinction.She passed the higher school from Kinnaird College (Lahore). In 1950, she began her career by singing for the Pakistan radio due to her extreme interest in music. She left the Pakistan radio due to small perks, and then she met with the Anwar Kamal Pasha (an ace director) in 1955. She expressed her wishing to Pasha in singing the songs for the movies.
Preferably, Pasha recommended her to become an actress. But she wanted to get the approval of her parents first to begin her journey as a singer as well as an actress in the movies. Pasha himself went to her father to convince him to allow her daughter to start working in the film industry. Pasha gave her screen name Chandani before making her appearance in the films. In 1955, she made her acting debut from 1955, released film Qatil.In this film, she was in a supporting role, but her acting was highly praised.
Baba Aalam Siah Posh (a poet and scriptwriter) suggested her name to Sheikh Lateef who was willing to make a Punjabi film Pattan-1995. In addition, with that film, she made debut in Punjabi industry from Pattan with her actual name, Musarrat Nazir. Her debutant film Pattan unlocked the doors for Musarrat to establish herself in the Punjabi film industry, which may lead to the (all-time) hit film Patay Khan in1955. She appeared in the all-time hit melodramas such as Yakke Wali , Mahi Munda. And her some of the films were so compelling and touched those left the audiences with tears such as Mahi Munda, Kartar Singh, and Zeher-E-Ishq.
She was born to Nazeer Ahmed. She is married to Arshad Majeed. She has three children named Omar Majeed (film director), Azed Majeed, and Zeelaf Majeed. She has a grandchild named Sufjian Majeed.
