Neil Diamond after his schooling, he usually had to help in his father's shop. On his 16th birthday, he got a guitar given that he learned to play. He went with Barbra Streisand to the Erasmus Hall High School in Flatbush and sang with her in the freshman chorus. In the early 60s, he initially worked as a songwriter with modest success such as Sunday and Me, who he wrote for Jay and the Americans and ended up in 18th place). With the title I'm a Believer, which he provided the Monkees, he had his first world success.
 
Then followed the well-known own hits, which are also in the repertoire of many other pop greats such as  Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Harry Belafonte, Shirley Bassey, Roy Orbison, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones, and  Daliah Lavi. With the song America, which reached # 8 on the Billboard singles charts and the ballad Love on the Rocks (# 2), the soundtrack became hugely successful and reached # 1 on the Billboard charts; the film, on the other hand, flopped. In 1996, he recorded with Tennessee Moon a country album, which gave him a listing at number 14. In 2000, Neil Diamond received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York.
 
On May 9, 2008 - again in collaboration with Rubin - his 29th studio album titled Home Before Dark appeared, including a duet with Natalie Maines, who is the lead singer of Dixie Chicks. The album was Diamonds first No. 1 album on the Billboard charts. In the summer of 2008, Neil Diamond was again on a concert tour in Europe, on his 2009 album "A Cherry Cherry Christmas", Diamond covered the well-known song "The Chanukah Song" by comedian Adam Sandler. On March 14, 2011, Diamond was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where Paul Simon introduced him. On August 10, 2012, Diamond received a star of the music-recording category on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In January 2018, Diamond announced he was suffering from Parkinson’s. Therefore, he will not only cancel his ongoing Australia and New Zealand tour but also generally no longer give concerts
