Pooja is raised in a family of connoisseurs in Classical music. She had natural interests in conventional music from a very young age. In order to acquaint herself with the modern-day form of light classical music, she started participating in various competitions and talent shows. She has always said that her father was her soul inspiration who aspired her to become a singer.

 

She stood 1st in the musical contest organized by the UN council in 2000-01. In a music exam organized by Akhila Bharateeya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Mumbai, she proclaimed top position in Praveshika Poorna, 2004 batch and in 2002, Praveshika Pratham batch, secured distinction. Secured pole position in PADALANI UNDI, a music contest organized by the MAA TV in 2006. She secured second place in the Zee TV’s "SA RE GA MA PA" in 2008, also known as Voice of Youth. In a show titled Vanampadi, which is aired on Kalaignar TV, she proclaimed 1st place in the year 2010.

 

After establishing herself on several musical competitions, she got the opportunity to perform with several noted playback singers like Vijay Prakash, Karthik and Srinivas Doraisawami. She has performed on stage in various countries like Australia, Oman, UAE, UK, US, Singapore, and Switzerland.

 

She has worked with noted music directors like GV Prakash, A. R. Rahman, Selva Ganesh and Srikanth Deva amongst others. Pooja Vaidyanath has sung several hit songs in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi Language films. Her hit song Tum Tak from the film Raanjhanna gave her wide recognition.
