Initially, he began his career with the popular TV series named as Hip Hip Hurray which was cast on the Zee TV. Moreover, Purab got a chance to become popular as a video jockey in the channel V. Later, he got the opportunity to work as a VJ in the travel show named as Gone India during which he traveled all over India. Later, in the year 2010, he has performed as an excellent anchor of the music television show named as – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. Most prominently, he is also selected for the upcoming television show titled as Tera Quiz which was cast on National Geographic Channel. Apart from his performance in the television shows, he has also appeared in many of the commercials such as Pizza Hut, Colgate, Amaron Batteries, Compaq Presario, and Castrol. 

 

Later, Purab took part in the popular television show known as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa of Season 7 in the year 2014. However, in 2003, he got a chance to perform in the first movie titled as Bus Yuhin along with the co-artist Nandita Das. He has performed in many other popular movies which include Supari in 2003, 13th floor in 2005, and Vastu Shastra in 2004. Additionally, he got an extreme recognition due to his performance in the movie My Brother Nikhil in the year 2005. He was last seen in teh Bollywood movie Noor. He recently appeared in some web series such as Typewriter and Out of Love.
