Dr. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh is an Indian politician from Bihar, India. He completed his education from Rajendra College, L.S. College, and Bihar University. He did M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Maths.
He was the member of Lok Sabha from Bihar. He is the part of RashtriyaJanta Dal political party. He was the cabinet minister in Ministry of Rural Development India in UPA’s government. He is also the expert in rural agriculture landscape. In 1991, Dr. Singh became the member of Bihar Legislative Council and then eventually became the chairman.
Dr. Singh came a long way in his political career. He started in 1973 as a Secretary of S.S.P in Bihar till 1977. Then from 1977-79, he was the minister of state. He went on to become a member of Committee on Question and Calling Attention, President of Lok Dal, a member of PretyayuktaSamiti, Chairman of Library Committee, Deputy Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly, Member of Bihar Legislative Council, Chairman of BiharLegislative Council, Minister of Rehabilitation and Department of Official Languages. He was elected in the 11thLok Sabha election. In 1996, he became the Union Minister of State, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. He later became the Union Minister of State, Food and Consumer Affairs. In 1998, Dr. Singh was elected again in the 12thLok Sabha as the Chairman of Committee of Food, Civil Supplies, and Public Distribution. He was also the part of its sub-committee on Food and Supplies, Department of Sugar and Edible Oils, Department of Coordination and Department of Consumer Affairs.
