Dr. Biharilal Raheja already had a strong establishment of a real estate company in Mumbai. It was Rajan who introduced an industrial conglomerate which is known collectively as Rajan Raheja Group engaged in multiple businesses. It was after a family split Raheja entered into building a different diversified empire. His initial interest was in construction material, specifically, cement and ceramic industry which later turned out to a heavyweight contemporary.

When Raheja successfully established his hold over cement and ceramics, Raheja marched towards the battery market. This move proved to be a masterstroke when Exide Batteries Ltd. came into existence by the founder Rajan Raheja. The industry ranked among the top battery companies as it soon became the most sold batteries. This turned Exide as the top company dealing with manufacturing of batteries in India. Coming to the plastic material industry, Raheja Group and Supreme Industries Ltd was the final project by the company. 
Other Sectors 
Rajan has made a mark on various core business sectors too apart from construction. He then had his hands over the media industry and Outlook Publications came into existence. Currently, Outlook serves to be the most demanding magazines in the country. He also expanded the media network with the launch of a cable company named Datacom Ltd., and Hathway Cable. Both companies have earned enormous success for their services that are widespread. To add to the success of cable and network, Asianet Communications was also established which provides Kerala with cable services. After media and construction, Raheja entered the insurance market and software that added to his success stories.
