Gayle started her acting career with the role of Baby June in the off-Broadway production of "Gypsy," starring Patti LuPone. She then revised her role after the production decided to transfer to Broadway briefly thereafter. Gayle subsequently co-starred in the off-Broadway plays like "Oohrah!" at the Atlantic Theatre Company and "Family Week," at MCC Theatre under the noted director of Academy-Award winner Jonathan Demme. She then appeared in the Broadway production of "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical" in 2007.

 

Gayle's shot to fame with Tony Kaye's film DETACHMENT that released in 2012, when she starred as a young slut opposite actor Adrien Brody. The following year, she starred opposite star actors Josh Lucas and Nicolas Cage in Millennium Films' STOLEN. After which she starred in films like The Congress, Hateship, Loveship, Vampire Academy and Noah.
