Sarah Brightman has sung in many languages which includes English, French, Spanish, German, Latin, Italian, Turkish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Catalan and Japanese. She became famous for her role in Andrew Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, Dance and Song.
From the tender age of three, she started taking dance and piano lessons and started performing in local competitions, festivals and contests. She launched her first on-stage debut when she just entered her teens with the musical drama I and Albert at London Piccadilly Theatre. She started her career as a one-off associate of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and then went on to appear in various other Broadway musicals.
The day she took retirement from stage, she started a new innings of her music career as a traditional crossover artist. She has earned herself the status of world's bestselling soprano of all time. Thus far she is the only artist to have been approached to perform at two Olympics.1992 Barcelona Olympic Games were the first where she performed and then again at 2008 Beijing Olympics. She has also appeared in a few noted movies including ‘Granpa’, ‘Brokedown Palace’, and ‘First Night’, which made her a familiar name in UK. She is also the Brand Ambassador of UNESCO.
She first married Andrew Graham Stewart in 1978 but it lasted short and they decided to file a divorce in 1983. Next she got married to Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1984 but the couple broke up June 1990.
