Said the ‘new-age Julie’ of the Malayalam film industry, Shamna Kashim, on the recent attack on an actress in Kochi. She was then at Muscat to inaugurate a showroom of elite jewellry and was all set to enthrall the Oman audience as a part of elite jewellry Visakha sandhya when she was asked about it.
The 27 years old actress, popular as Poorna, is a prominent classical dancer, actress, and model active in the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kammada & Bollywood film industries. Debuting with Manju Poloru Penkutty, she has acted in more than 50 films and has performed in many stage shows.
She has won many acclamations for her role as a ghost in Telugu movies and was titled ‘The Ghost Queen of The Telugu Films’ by The Hindu in 2010 and since then there has been no looking back for her career.
But her movie career was not a bed of roses. In one of her movie audio releases, teary-eyed she has confessed that after facing repeated failure she had decided to quit the film industry altogether. It was after her Telugu movie success that she decided to give herself another chance.
The sensation of the Malayalam film industry, Poorna had alleged that director Rajesh Pillai had cut off her role in her then movie that was released in 2015. She was rumored to be pregnant and married to a north Indian guy those she clarified and assured were only rumors.
Then she was seen in many movies in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu & Kannada languages. In 2021, she was seen in A. L. Vijay's movie Thalaivi (a film based on politician/actress J. Jayalalithaa's biography) which was released on 10-09-2021 in Tamil, Telugu & Bollywood cinema. In which she shared the screen along with actress Kangana Ranaut & actor Arvind Swami.
