Shiamak Davar is a high quality and creative Indian choreographer. He wanted to be an actor but ended up being an eminent dancer in the industry. He is one of the pioneers to bring contemporary jazz and other western forms of dance to India. He is trained at training at the premier dancing institutes in London, including the Guildford School of Acting. He is known to have trained various Bollywood celebrities like Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sushant Singh Rajpoot, etc. He is a multi-faceted personality and a role model.
He has choreographed songs in many movies, the first one being Dil to Pagan hai. This fetched him a National Award. He has been conferred from the Middlesex University, the honorary doctorate in light of the recognition to entertainment in the world and particularly in India. He has bagged the award for Most Stylish Song in a Film for Bollywood movie Dhoom 2 by MTV-style Award.
He has tried his luck in the music industry by composing and singing in Shabop. a hit Pop Album along with other singers such as Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan and ShwetaPandit who were a part of it.
He is a benevolent person running a foundation that preaches dance is a therapy and teaches dance to children who are underprivileged or suffer from various disabilities. He strongly believes in the world of the spirit and often times, he seeks their guidance by communicating with them.
He believes in spreading awareness about the styles of dancing and the values attached to it, and runs a line of dance schools named ShiamakDavar Institute in India, Canada, U.K., and U.S. He got into a big trouble when two of his students alleged to have been sexually assaulted by him but these allegations were not proved and lawsuit was dismissed.
