Shivaki Satam was born in a Marathi speaking family. He completed his graduation in Chemistry and after which, he also did a diploma course in Business Administration. He started his professional career by getting employed in Dena Bank as a bank cashier in the Worli Naka branch. It was while he was working in bank, he also got associated with theatre and started acting.
He was first noticed in an event of the interbank stage competition. After which, he received his first major break as an actor when he landed a role in theatre which was offered by the legendary Marathi theatre actor Bal Dhuri. From there he rose to land a role in the Hindi serial called Rishte Naate in 1980. Simultaneously, he performed in Marathi show titled Ek Shunya Shunya in 1988 and garnered wide popularity.
It was after he landed the role of ACP Pradyuman in the detective television series CID that he got noticed and catapulted to limelight. He started working in the series since its inception in 1998 and is still a part of the show.
In addition to television series, he is a well known actor of silver screen as well. He made his acting debut in films in the year 1987 with the Hindi film Pestonjee. After which, he has acted in several noted film slike Vasstav, Garv, Nayak, Kurukshetra, Virudh, Pukar, Hu Tu Tu and China Gaye among others. His performance in the hit film Ghulam-E-Mustafa needs a special mention. For his performance, he also received Best actor nomination. Besides Hindi, he has also acted in several Marathi films. In his career, he has won state awards twice for his films like Dhayaani Mani and Ek Hoti Vadi.
