Jagan Mohan Reddy was born in an illustrious political family where his father Late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He started his career as a businessman by starting a TV channel and a newspaper named Sakshi. 
 
He initially didn’t want to join politics but soon after his father’s death, he went on a condolence tour and reached out to the families of the people who committed suicide or went ill by listening to the news of his father’s demise. He contested from INC ticket in the 2009 general elections from Kadapa constituency and got elected as an MP. After his fallout with INC in 2011, he started a party called YSR Congress (Yuvajana Shramika Raithu Congress Party). He contested in the Kadapa constituency in the 2011 Lok Sabha by-elections and won by a thumping margin of over 5lakh votes.
 
Under his guidance, his party fought 2014 Andhra Pradesh State elections but could only manage to win 67 out of 175 seats. He started working on the ground to make sure he doesn’t lose again in the 2019 Assembly elections. He launched a 3000km walkathon and named it PrajaSankalpaYatra. The Yatra started in 2017 and ended in 2019. He covered nearly 125 assembly seats and minted a slogan called “Raavali Jagan, Kaavali Jagan” which meant Jagan Should Come to power.
 
He has around 31 cases going on against him and has been questioned by CBI for a long time. He though has maintained it as a political vendetta and has accused other political parties in the power of a political conspiracy. He has campaigned in full fledge and as per the survey and might well be on his course to become the next CM of Andhra Pradesh.
