Vijay Antony is a multi-talented personality in the Indian film scene. He is a music composer, actor, film editor, lyricist, audio engineer, and filmmaker.
Antony started acting by starring in the crime thriller Naan in 2012. Since then, he has worked in various films and television series, such as Pichaikkaran (2016), Annadurai (2017), Thimiru Pudichavan (2018), and Tamilarasan (2023).
Apart from acting, Vijay is mainly recognized for his work as a composer. His notable credits include Rasikkum Seemane, Kanagavel Kaaka, Sattam Oru Iruttarai, Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam, and Thimiru Pudichavan.
Despite such bliss with his career success, he has not been away from tragedies- when he was seven, his father committed suicide. On September 19, 2023, Vijay’s 16-year-old daughter, Meera, committed suicide.
Vijay Antony’s Early Life: His Father Committed A Suicide
Frances Antony Cyril Raja, known as Vijay Antony, was born on July 24, 1975, and is 49 years old as of 2024. He is a native of Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India, and holds Indian nationality.
Antony is not the only child of his parents, as he was raised alongside his younger sister. The actor’s family faced a tragic moment in their life at a young age when their father passed away after committing suicide.
When his dad committed suicide, Vijay was just seven while his sister was five. Following his father’s demise, Vijay and his sister were raised by their mother, who dealt with many problems.
Antony has also been open about his early life. In an interview, Antony recalled the moment,
“My father committed suicide. I was seven years old then. My sister was also five years old. The reason for that and so on is my personal life. It doesn’t need to be said here. It may not be a big deal for you. But I know how much my mother struggled to bring us up after my father left.”

Vijay Antony’s Career Journey From A Sound Engineer To Music Composer And Actor
Vijay Antony initially took the name Agni but was later changed by director S. A. Chandrasekhar. Antony is not a trained musician but was interested in music from an early age.
So, following his passion, Antony started working as a sound engineer and later became a music composer. Upon completing his tertiary education, Vijay began at an audio studio named Audio Infotainment, where he worked as a sound engineer.
During his initial phase as a music composer, Antony worked in advertisements. He got into movies when he was approached to compose music for his film Dishyum. Meanwhile, he debuted as a movie music composer by working in Sukran.
He got more media prominence for songs in the 2008 film Kadhalil Vizhunthen. Vijay also worked in Nakka Mukka, which helped him win the Cannes Golden Lion award.
In 2009, he composed the music for several Tamil soundtracks, such as TN 07 AL 4777, A Aa E Ee, and Ninaithale Inikkum. Likewise, he has composed music for his acting movies, including Naan and Salim.
As mentioned earlier, Antony is also an actor and has been acting professionally since 2006. Most recently, he landed a role in a Tamil film named Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan.

Vijay Antony And His Wife Fathima Welcomed Two Daughters:
Vijay Antony lives in Chennai with his beloved wife, Fathima Vijay Antony. According to various online portals, the Antony couple tied the knot in 2006 in the presence of their family members and close ones.
Being married for a long time, Vijay and his wife welcomed two daughters named Meera and Lara. The happy family of four faced a tragedy after their daughter, Meera, took her own life.
On September 19, 2023, Meera was found hanging in her room in Teynampet, Chennai. She was later taken to the hospital but was declared dead. Reportedly, she was a class 12 student dealing with bad nerves due to her upcoming exams.
Vijay and his wife have shared multiple posts about their late daughter on social media. She often remembers her late daughter. Once, she posted a family photo on Instagram, which left many of her followers sad.
Talking about Fatima, she has been a producer in the film industry since 2012.
